Zimbabwe Holidays
Zimbabwe;
a country of great beauty, historical ruins, wild animals, buzzing city life
and tropical climate makes this a popular holiday destination. Zimbabwe is located
in Southern Africa, between South Africa and Zambia.
The countries real attractions are the Safari’s and National Parks where
you can get up close to a variety of wild animals and birds living in their
habitat. There is however more than animals to tempt you to Zimbabwe and one
of the biggest visitor attractions has to be Victoria Falls discovered by David
Livingstone who named them after the Queen Victoria that can be found in Southern
Africa on the borders of Zambia and Zimbabwe. The falls are a magnificent sight
consisting of seven waterfalls with many activities to try, one of the most
daring one is the Bungee Jump which is the highest one in the world, visitors
flock to Victoria falls just for that alone! For the not so daring, there is
a good range of water sports including white-water rafting and canoeing, there
are also cruises available along the river. Victoria falls is not only famous
for being the largest falls in the world, it is also recognised at the one of
the few places where you were able to see a total eclipse on the 4th December
2002. The falls are situated in a within a 23,4km² national park where
there are six national monuments including the Falls can be seen. The park has
a range of activities to offer visitors including horse riding and golfing.
Zimbabwe also has great historical sites and places of interest to visit such
as The Ruins of Great Zimbabwe that were built in A.D. The ancient structure
is surrounded by a 36-foot stonewall and inside houses The Conical Tower that
stands at 33 feet high previously used for religious ceremonies. The ruins were
discovered by Europeans and built by the Romans. Other sightseeing and great
visitor attractions include the Giraffe Springs that are situated in isolated
land with private camping facilities provided as there is only one way onto
this stretch of land and that is by air. The accommodation comprises of tented
bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. The campsite offers magnificent views of the
landscapes where you will have the opportunity to watch the animals such as
giraffe and antelopes pass by.
Shopping in Zimbabwe is a mixture of cultural arts and crafts and European style
goods, best buys are around the markets and in the arts and crafts shops these
