Get spooked out
at Thai festival
Based on ancient
Chinese tradition, this event is a festival for unleashed spirits, where the
Chinese community in Phuket come together and give gifts of food.
Taking place from
August 15-27, the Por Tor Festival also offers visitors the chance to view the
special shrine for the Por Tong Kong god and a Thai folk performance and films.
A popular sight
at the event are turtle cakes, which symbolise longevity and are supposed to
prolong the life of the person who gives them.
