Drama and driving
at Italian charity event
The Italian Job
runs from October 28 until November 6 and is inspired by the 1969 film.
As part of this
event a sponsored Mini Cooper drives across the Alps to Italy's Emilia Romagna
region and collects a hoard of local wine before heading to the UK.
The wine then gets
sold, with proceeds going to a range of children's charities.
Participants from
a number of countries are attracted to the event with over £1 million
being raised for charities.
To take part people
have to pay a £500 registration fee and need to raise £1,500 for
the event's nominated charities.
Any car that featured
in the film can be used, so visitors simply watching the event could see a host
of different motors.
A final celebration
and rally is held in Imola, in Emilia Romagna, when the cars make it to Italy.
