Hollywood Holidays
Hollywood is the most popular place to visit
when holidaying in Los Angeles. It is known throughout the world as the television
and Movie capital of the world with some fantastic productions being filmed
here. The prestige that Hollywood has is one of glamour; money, success and
glitz with award ceremonies taking place here and several of the big stars residing
in the famous Hollywood Hills in their million dollar mansions.
Hollywood boulevard
is the main area that tourist head for as there are many well recognise places
of interest here and most of Hollywood’s film History is contained within
this area, one example of this is the famous “walk of fame” where
the Hollywood stars of past and present have a metallic star embedded into the
ground honouring their achievement and contribution to the film, television,
music, radio and theatre industry. Some of the stars include Elvis Presley and
Ronald Regan.
Located within
this area is the Capitol Records Tower that was constructed to look like a stack
of 45rpm records. Other attractions include the Guinness Book of World Records,
Hollywood Wax Museum which houses a collection of famous wax look-alikes and
The Hollywood History Museum dedicated to the television and Museum industry.
As well as Museums, theatres and art galleries there are also many shops on
the boulevard selling television memorabilia and several restaurant and cafes
to dine in.
Silver Lake and Los Feliz offer a real insight into the film
industry as there is plenty archive film information and various places of interest
within the region including the Walt Disney house, The fantasy Foundation that
displays a selections of some of the best Sci-fi and horror props and costumes
and The Louis B Mayer Library which is open to the public is worth a visit.
For a great view of the city and a glimpse at the famous Hollywood
Sign you will have to travel to the Hollywood Hills, but if you were hoping
to have your picture taken under the fifty foot sign, think again as there is
no access to the sign, However for a tranquil drive and a look at the lovely
mountainous scenery then this is the place to head for.
The Hollywood hills have a number of visitor attractions in the area these include
the Hollywood Bowl, which is an open-air auditorium, once where the Beatles
played, and more famously known now as the venue for the LA Philharmonic hosted
every year.
The famous Sunset Boulevard where the classical 1950s film was
produced was once home to some of the television and movie studios including
Columbia, Warner Brothers, and Fox Studios, there is also the Charlie Chaplin
Studio and Hollywood Palladium which used to host some big name Jazz Bands such
as the Glen Miller.
