Let your hair down at Amsterdam festival

Known for its relaxed approach to a host of issues, Amsterdam helps celebrate the gay and lesbian community at Amsterdam Pride this August.

Taking place on August 5-8, the event is full of exciting activities, with the Dutch community renowned for going overboard at the event.

Among the events on offer at the celebrations is the Canal Parade, which begins at 2pm and includes about 80 decorated boats full of colour and music.

The event is free of charge and also offers cultural and sporting activities as well as parties at various cafes and clubs.

Film and theatre also plays an important part at the festival.
