Float along to Amsterdam Canal Parade

This annual event takes place on August 7 and sees brightly decorated boats, floating clogs and costumed dancers and partygoers float down Amsterdam's main canals.

Over 250,000 visitors usually attend the event, which begins at 2pm and is free of charge.

Among the areas the parade visits are Westerdok, Stadhuis and Muziektheater.

Reportedly, the best venues to watch the parade from are the bridges over the Prinsengracht and the Amstel, or from the quaysides.
