night at French festival
On October 2-3,
the streets of Paris come alive at night for 'Nuit Blanche' or 'White Night'.
Throughout the
night the libraries, museums, places of worship, gardens, swimming pools and
parks stay open to the public.
Each venue is available
for entry for free and also includes cinemas, tourist sites and universities.
Last year saw 60,000
people attending and for those who make it though the night there is breakfast
laid on at each district's city hall by shopkeepers and local associations.
