French Fortress
illuminations
The Fortress Illuminations
in Calais take place between September 1-30 and are to mark invasions of the
area in the past.
The event is part
of Lille 2004's City of Culture project and sees the fortresses transformed
at weekend with lights.
Among the attractions
are the light and music show on Fridays, music, acting and dance on Saturdays
and a light display every Sunday.
The fortresses
which will be illuminated for the event are Bergues, Conde-sur-Escaut, Gravelines,
Le Quesnoy, Lille, Calais, Mauberge, Boulogne-sur-Mer and Montreuil-sur-Mer.
